Ds2 is teething.  Crap.
Ds1 was an early-ish teether, too.  Had every single tooth by about 2yo.  Including those mean, nasty molars.

Yeah, those photos of the boys are cute.  Ds1 gets jealous that ds2’s almost always in my arms or on me in some fashion.  So yesterday I went to the kitchen to get something, come back into the living room, and that’s what I saw.  One night I even came into our bedroom after putting ds1 down for bed, and discovered him in the little sliver of bed next to the railing that we put ds2 at night (it’s easier than a bassinet, who knew? ).  So he got some extra cuddles that night I think.

Anyway, they’re both entranced by the other, it’s quite cute.  Ds2 wants to be able to move so badly… when he’s on his tummy on the boppy or the ground he pumps his arms and legs like there’s no tomorrow (he actually would move if the motions were a little more coordinated).  It’ll be nice when they can entertain each other and ds2 can sorta defend himself.

We’re having waffles tonight for dinner.  It’s cheap, easy, and sorta unexpected.

Baked Brown Rice (by Alton Brown)

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

1.5 cups brown rice, medium or short grain
2.5 cups water
1 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp kosher salt

1) Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
2) Place the rice into an 8-inch square glass baking dish.
3) Bring the water, butter and salt just to a boil in a kettle or covered saucepan.  Once the water boils, pour it over the rice, stir to combine, and cover the dish tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil*.  Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 1 hour.
4) After 1 hour, remove cover and fluff the rice with a fork.  Serve immediately.

*Lanna’s note: Be careful not to splash the liquid out of the dish when you put it in the oven.  It’s messy.
